5 Ways to Create A Great Party

  1. Choose the right DJ

Every host, and every DJ has a different style, so you’ll want to consider how the two will work together in making a good experience for your guests. Does your DJ work with your vision? A good DJ will want to know a lot about you, your plan, and what you like to hear. Share your plan, and what you see when you picture your event. Your DJ should be willing to work with you to make that happen. By talking, you’ll find out if you have a good fit.

  1. Promote your event and build excitement

Give your guests call to action, and a way to interact with the event before it starts. Consider including a promotion like: “the first 15 to reply get a guaranteed song request.” Your guest will love the chance to be included in the planning, and are much more likely to come, dance, and have fun.

Be sure to create a Facebook event page so they have an easy way to invite and be promoters. This can also help ramp up excitement in the leading days.

  1. Surprise your guests with a fun performance

Sometimes events can be a drag when they’re completely predictable. Try breaking up the monotony of the night with a special dance performance or game. Not only does this make the night more entertaining, but makes it more noteworthy, increasing the likelihood they’ll discuss your party with other people and increasing the likelihood they’ll attend your next shindig.

  1. Play all types of music

If you exclusively listen to classic rock, dubstep, or any particular genre, I’m sure there will be guests at your party who would appreciate greater diversity in genres. Try having the DJ play throwbacks that would please lots of segments of your guests. Choosing lots of different genres keeps the dance floor interesting, and seeing all of your guests interact on the floor, is going to be worth it. I promise.

  1. Dance!

This sounds obvious, but this can be intimidating for some. Your guests are going to be looking to you to set the mood of the night. If you get out on the floor, everyone is going to join. Dancing is contagious. If you’re a shy dancer, ask a couple buddies to get out there with you; I’m sure they’d love to.
